This 32 page alumni magazine done for the College of Pharmacy is produced 3 times a year. It is a delightful puzzle I enjoy putting together filled with custom photography, manipulated stock and some challenging provided photos.

I truly enjoy going on photoshoots and exploring what I can get a pharmacist to do... Dr. Mankin (the pharmacist above holding the beaker) drew the line when I suggested smoke and maybe a small flame — but was very enthused about the colored liquid.

Between fighting poses — Dr. Adam confessed he was anything but tough.

I was happy to discover that UIC College of Pharmacy reused Mat with the heart hands on Instagram. I was tickled pink when he agreed to embrace this pose.

We shoot the pharmacists at the school so that it is as convenient as possible for them — but that leaves us with limited resources. We end up shooting them on a white sweep the majority of the time — but that is when the photoshop fun begins!

I often change headlines and create callouts to support a concept. This story was all about "elevating" the curriculum — of course that means they should be on a mountain!

Provided heads shots can be really boring — but when the cover image is a close up of a dollar with that beautiful etching — I googled how to create this technique and figured out how to apply it to the provided headshots. There are many steps — but I was pleased with the finished product.

Adding some colorization and graphics to the photos reinforced UIC's branding.
